Pretty fun experience DIY-ing your own Okonomiyaki. Nice to have that 10% off for self-service. Food was decent and the vibe felt like in Japan. We didn’t have to make any reservations, just went there before 7pm. Parked at the outdoor beside the CC opposite. Great place with friendly staff.
Very small restaurant with limited parking lots outside the premises. DIY okonomiyaki has 10% discount. Fresh ingredients. Added kimchi was too salty for me otherwise no issue. Not use to the taste of the meshed up century egg tofu. Chawanmushi a bit salty. Okonomiyaki portion was good for one pax as a meal. Will come back for the okonomiyaki and will try out other dishes.
The service staff were extremely kind and were constantly updating us on the waiting time. The whole experience of getting to make your own okonomiyaki was fun and interesting. You would also be entitled to 10% off your okonomiyaki if you choose to DIY it. It also tasted so good as you get to decorate it with as much sauce and bonito flakes yourself. I ordered the mentaiko scallops and it was cooked to perfection. Overall really good experience here with an affordable price of about $20++ per pax.
Went around 7.30 pm on a Wednesday night. Happy that there was no queue.
I liked the appetizers - had the raw octopus in wasabi and the century egg tofu. Both had strong and interesting flavours.
The okonomiyaki was ok. I had prawn, scallop and cheese. 10% discount if you cook it yourself. Quite fun and easy to cook. Instructions are printed for your reference. Free flow of sauce and bonito flakes. It tastes nice, but after a while the taste can get a bit overwhelming. I would recommend two people to share one.
Also had the beef tongue and pork. Tongue had a bit more texture, springy. Interesting.
Went with a friend, two of us tested two appetizers, one okonomiyaki, one beef tongue, one pork and two drinks. This food portion is just nice for the two of us.
Atmosphere - it can get quite hot if you sit by the hot plate (duh! Obviously! Haha). Just saying, it can get quite warm.
Great place! Have been a customer of this restaurant for years but only reviewed now. It’s a small, quiet place that’s not very obvious and is probably quite out-of-the-way for some, but the Okonomiyaki is quite the experience!
They have the option of cooking on your behalf or cooking it on your own. If you choose the latter, you get to shape the okonomiyaki in any shape you please, instructions are clearly given and also written down under your plate. Taste-wise, it’s pretty great as most okonomiyaki places do and this on it’s own is already a meal. Price is relatively fair at 18 dollars for an okonomiyaki with a 3-ingredient choice, considering it’s a restaurant and with the hotplate counters, smaller appetites might need to share with another. Best enjoyed with a group so you can try the Potato Mentai and Karaage but the Okonomiyaki itself deserves a visit!
Visited #ajiyaokonomiyakirestaurant yesterday by chance while waiting around Upper Bukit Timah. The #okonomiyaki was delicious with a lot of fresh ingredients and the size is decent enough for sharing by two (plus two other small dishes). One other dish was the mentai scallops which are nicely baked to retain tenderness and sweetness. Reasonably priced for everything. I would return again soon.
Very small place. No reservations allowed. Fast and great service. Food is really good. Small menu but good quality. Garlic fried rice was good, beef tongue is interesting, rest was also good
Sat at a table nearby without the hotplate in front. Food portion was relatively small. Could have given more since the food is pricey. Taste wise is great!! Recommend to just come once for experience 👍🏼
